Charles Bronson Arroyo Shuts Out the Lights

Arroyo and the Red Sox bull pen shut out the Mariners 9-0 as the Sox take another lopsided win and move one step closer to the playoffs.

Arroyo pitched a high quality start, going seven innings and giving up only 4 hits. With the win Charles Bronson moves to 9-9, ten less than Schillings 19 but with one more win the entire Red Sox staff could be setting the water mark high for the rest of the league.
I guess there's not too many rotations in the major leagues this year or any year that usually have five guys with double-digit wins," he said. "I've never had 10 wins in the major leagues."
The shut out with the help of Timlin and Embree represented the Sox league leading 12th shutout. Every team has a hard luck pitcher, the last couple years it was Pedro not getting any run support or the bullpen blowing his leads. This year it was Arroyo, pitching great games but the bats not backing him up, and he is glad things are changing around of late.
I've been waiting to even it up for a long time," said Arroyo, who was claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2003. "I don't think I've ever had a full season when I was below .500. I'm proud of that -- to win more games than you lose every year."

Boston has now won six of seven, 16 of 18, 22 of 25 and 25 of 30 but with the Yankees winning 7 of their last 10 the Sox are still just 2.5 games back. The good news is that the wild card is now their's to lose with a solid 6 game lead.
