Damon Asks To Lower Lowe's ERA

On Wednesday Lowe got a win, that's good. However he gave up three earned runs over 5.2 innings, that's bad. Lowe, who is in a contract year and will be seeking free agency has a ridiculously high era for a starting pitcher (5.47). Thursday Johnny Damon decided to do something about it. You see, the previous day Damon dropped a ball that scored two runs, and the official scorer gave Tino Martinez credit for a hit because the play was anything but routine. Normally that is good for a center fielder. Center fielders are all about the defense and errors translate into poor defense which translates into lower ranking and less salary the next time your contract is up. Damon being the friendly selfless guy that he is was confident enough in his reputation for solid defensive and asked the official scorer to change the ruling on the hit and slap another error on his total for the year (5). In turn Lowe's second and third earned runs of the day turned into unearned runs. Lowering his ERA from 5.47 to 5.33. Every little bit counts I guess.
