Bring Out Your Dead... err Injured
Red Sox Place Youkilis and McCarty On the DL
The Boston Red Sox have placed infielders Kevin Youkilis and David McCarty on the 15-day disabled list.
Youkilis has a bone bruise in his right ankle, an injury he sustained Sunday during a collision at home plate with Chicago White Sox catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. In 56 games this season, Youkilis has a batting average of .281 with seven homers and 33 runs batted in.
McCarty, meanwhile, has not played since August 12 because of a cyst that needs to be drained from his right wrist. He is hitting .246 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 82 games.
The Red Sox activated pitcher Curtis Leskanic off the 15-day disabled list and purchased the contract of infielder Earl Snyder from Triple-A Pawtucket to fill the roster spots.
