    Pedroia Jumps Into the Stands

My favorite story out of spring training this year...
Dustin Pedroia leaves the game, puts on street clothes, and buys three hot dogs from the concession vendors in the stands as the game continues. Best part is that no one noticed him. A great piece of intrepid reporting by Gordon Edes.

    THE BIG PAPI LASER SHOW

Yet Another Reason to Love Dustin Pedroia
David’s fine. He’s one of our teammates. It could have been me who hit into a double play. It happens to everybody. He’s had 60 at-bats. A couple of years ago I had 60 at-bats and I was hitting .170 and everybody was ready to kill me too. What happened? Laser show." --Dustin Pedroia 05/04/10

After David Ortiz went 0-4 and lowered his average to the team low of .149 Dustin Pedroia came to his defense.
“I’m tired of looking at the NESN poll, why David’s struggling. I’m going to go on line and vote on NESN.com. ‘Papi’s fine. Thanks for playing.’’’

    The Pedroia Chronicles

    Dustin Pedroia:
    Born 08/17/1983 in Woodland California.
A part of the 2007 World Series Champion Red Sox.
2007 AL Rookie of the year
    2008 AL MVP

    January 2009

Dustin's 29 year old older brother Brett Pedroia is arrested on charges of sex with a minor.

Brett Pedroia, 29, turned himself in to Woodland police on Jan. 9. According to an arrest report, he's suspected of oral copulation and lewd acts with a child under 14. Brett Pedroia was booked and later released on $50,000 bail. He was working in his family's tire store Saturday, but he said he had no comment. The Pedroia family is well-known and liked in Woodland.--via The Sporting News
    Brett pleads not guilty.

    April 2009
Dustin rips his home town and the local news paper in an in depth interview by Tommy Craggs in Boston Magazine.

It's a dump. You can quote me on that. I don't give a shit."-Dustin Pedroia on Woodland California

Pedroia acknowledges he's angry with the town for something he won't specify, though it's safe to assume it involves his older brother Brett's arrest, in January, on child-molestation charges. (Brett has pleaded not guilty.) "Everyone wants to get out of there," he goes on. "You don't want to stay in Woodland. What do you want to stay in Woodland for? The place sucks. The newspaper there, I don't really get along with. I come from your town. You should embrace me. I play for the Boston Red Sox. You haven't had a lot of major-leaguers come out of your city."

    April 2009
Kenneth Samuels allegedly calls the Pedroia family tire business in Woodland California and makes a death threat towards a member of the Pedroia Family. Kenneth Samuels is arrested.

    Caballito?

    MY LITTLE PONY?
How many times when we saw the Red Sox this summer did they talk about Caballito, Dustin Pedroia, the little pony?" --Chip Caray 10/1/08
    Hmmm, none Chip.

    SEPERATED AT BIRTH?

What does Matt Damon and Dustin Pedroia have in common?

    dustin 2 matt cropped 2

Clearly very little, but Matt Damon seems to think they have something in common. When Damon was asked who he would play if a movie was made about the 2007 Red Sox he replied little Dustin.

"I guess Pedroia; What I love about him is how he gives everything he's got, on every play, every swing."-- Matt Damon

    Rookie of the Year

When Pedroia hit the ball out, it allowed us to line up the good pitchers, not overextend guys or face people we didn't want to. Some wins seem harder than others, and that was a tough one. Playing tied on the road is very difficult, so it's a lot better having the lead."-- Francona 8/8/07
