    Playoffs?

    Never Blame da Wang

Could you ask for anything more? We (Red Sox fans) had the best season possible last year, and this year has proven to be about as good as they come. There were no 17 strike out games from Pedro, or remarkable bench clearing brawls that supposedly turned the season around. This year was more about defending a title and looking back all things considered they did it pretty well. The next three days are as important as any days have been since last October, and just that fact alone warms my heart. You have to attend a wedding this weekend? Well it sucks to be you. Out side of that if you are a Red Sox fan you know exactly what your plans are for the weekend. You don't need to make any excuses to your loved ones; they already know what you are doing. But the reality is that the Sox must sweep the Yankees to win the AL East, and that is what this season has been all about. Actually winning the pennant, unfortunately it probably won't happen and that is sad. However, only a fool predicts what will happen during a Yankees Red Sox series.

    The End is Near

This is the playoffs right now,It's amazing. It's here already before October comes."-- Johnny Damon

Sox Drop One Game Behind with Four to Play

We'll try to wipe this one away as quickly as possible. I only threw 79 pitches, so I feel like I'll be healthy for the Yankees."-- Bronson Arroyo

    Double Double

I've never been involved in a pennant race, but I think it increases the pressure on them. It's tough to win two games in one day. We're feeling good and we're ready to take on the Red Sox."--Shea Hillenbrand

    Need a Good Laugh?

Read some of this hog wash writen by Ted Robinson the play by play voice of the New York Mets. It should be of no surprise to anyone that he was was born in Queens and is completly objective.

Red Sox have run out of magic
Look for Yankees to win AL East and Boston to miss out on wild card.
    Headed for heartbreak in Beantown
Unlike in recent years, the Red Sox and Yankees I don't feel will have the wild card to fall back on if they come up short in the division race. That's because Cleveland has been on such an unconscious run since midsummer.
    A new curse begins?
By winning the World Series last year, the Red Sox put to rest all the talk of the Curse of the Bambino. But it seems like this season, the baseball gods have gone back to crushing the hopes of BoSox fans.
The Yankees have become the Red Sox in the sense that it's New York's lineup that is pounding out the runs, while Boston's lacks the pop it's had in the past. The Yankees have spent an awful lot of money on players known for their big bats, and they are delivering.
    Tight race carries a price
Even though I predict the Yankees to win the division and make the playoffs over the Red Sox, I don't think New York will go anywhere in the postseason. In fact, I see the Yankees getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs as the grind of regular season will take its toll.
    He did get something right.

    Foulke is a Little Bitch

As if you needed any more reasons to hate Keith Foulke...
You guys wonder why sometimes I get real short and become a smartass? You know what? I am so sick and tired of talking about the same (stuff) every day. It's not even funny.

It's one of the reasons that for next year I am relocating. I'm moving out of the city so I can be with myself a little more."

When everything is peachy and going well, sometimes success allows you to deal with things a little easier. But after a while you get tired of hearing everybody's opinion on what you're doing wrong."

Everybody keeps asking me. I am so sick and tired of talking about mechanics and how I feel. . . . I can't express to you how disgusted it makes me feel."

Manny Gets His Turn as Hero

    The Game Winning Hit

    Hats Off to Ramirez

The scene: The tenth inning, game tied at two, home team up, two runners on, Ortiz up, Ramirez on deck. You intentionally walk the one time Twins cast off, and pitch to the perennial all star Manny Ramirez. That was weird enough. Then factor in the A's only playing two outfielders with five infielders. Manny slumping, bases loaded, Keiichi Yabu's freshly added to the mound, pitch one foul, ball, game over. Yabu-Ya hits Ramirez, Red Sox win 3-2.
I think everyone was kind of stunned and weren't quite sure what happened. So here I am, running like a goofball all happy, and Manny is wincing in pain. It's awesome."-- Johnny Damon
Ortiz may not have won the game but he did tie it at two with his 43 homer of the year.
I was expecting something else... I'm so happy that Manny got hit."-- David Ortiz

Yankees Proud of Sweeping the Devil Dogs

It's very satisfying, and even more satisfying coming back in a place that we certainly haven't been comfortable playing all year. It tells you a lot about the players you have and the team you have."-- Joe Torre

    Jay Payton Returns to Fenway

With Damon on the sideline, and Millar playing left field, there could be no worse time for Kapler to have a season ending injury than right now. It is easy to not like Payton, he signed on as a part time player and immediately was uncomfortable with his part time roll, but it sure would be nice to have him back. Payton's departure made way for Bradford's arrival who has been a highly serviceable reliever for the Sox (note last night's eighth inning hold clearing the way for Ortiz's MVP style game winning homer). Thursday night marks the return to Fenway for Payton as an Oakland A.

The bottom line is we want to go in there and win the series. I don't have any hard feelings whatsoever. It's a business. It didn't work out. I don't harbor any nasty feelings. That's not my style." -- Jay Payton

Who will play center field tonight other than Payton?
I'm hoping Johnny Damon shows up and is really healthy."-- Terry Francona

If not, perhaps the likes of Machado or Hyzdu?

    FOULKE POST SURGERY: NO BETTER

Since returning from missing two months of the season due to a sucking injury, Foulke has appeared five times, and quickly returned to his 2005 form. He has given up a hit or more in every outing except one, 3 earned runs, 3 walks and Tuesday night even hit a batter.

He said on the mound he didn't try to hit me, I just looked at him and said, 'Come on man.' It really hurt. He nearly took my nipple off."-- Eric Hinske

    Lost Oppertunity

Thursday night the Yankees lost to the Devil Rays... again... FOR THE ELEVENTH TIME THIS SEASON! If the Sox bats produced their requisite seven runs they would have entered the three game series with the Yankees holding a five game lead.
In the past, we always knew we had to make up ground, Now we need to extend our ground. Hopefully, that starts tomorrow night."-- Johnny Damon

    The Greatest Clutch Hitter Ever

According to John Henry, David Ortiz is now officially the greatest clutch hitter ever. After D.O. hit his second walk off homer of the year, I agree.

    The Bash Brothers

With first baseman John Olerud hitting 3 homeruns in the past 4 days and first baseman Kevin Millar hitting 4 homeruns in the past 8 games it is safe to say that the Red Sox are finally getting some production out of first base. But from two of the most anemic homerun hitters out there? First baseman Kevin Olerud can start for me any time.
