Nomar Calls it a Hoax

You may remember hearing that Nomar said to a fan during Spring Training in Arizona that he didn't want his World Series ring the Red Sox had decided to give him. The story originated from BostonDirtDogs.com but has since been taken down off the site due to questions of its accuracy. The Boston Blogger has turned up a google cached version of the page for your viewing pleasure. On Monday Nomar was questioned on the subject during an ESPN baseball broadcast and had this to say.

They were putting it out like I was bitter...They found out later it was a hoax." Nomar Gariciaparra said

It turns out that Mr. Hamm called EPSN and asked the broadcasters to retract the story in hopes that it would all go away. Hmmm?
