    Platoon: Now Playing in Left Field

    Nixon had earned his way through Jimy Williams and Grady Little's tutelage to an everyday right fielder. Then he became injured, and struggled to find time against righties or lefties last year. A career .293 (vs righties).213 (vs lefties) hitter will be on a short leash from Francona who has tipped his cap that he will play Jay Payton in right field against most lefties.
    Jay Payton gives us a nice blend of contributions. We're going to go with the most production we can get with both of them." Francona told reporters
    Nixon the hard nose team player was not afraid to say how he felt about it.
    I don't like it... That's a simple fact. Everybody wants to go out and play every day, I've had my opportunities against lefties, but usually tough lefties and guys out of the bullpen." Said Nixon
