Schilling Signs Up For Cy Young Race

Schilling moves to 18 wins (the league lead) as the Sox won the game and the series against Texas on Sunday afternoon.
Phenomenal homestand," raved Schilling. "We played such good baseball in every aspect. I just feel like we are such a good team right now that we can win with pitching, hitting, defense, bullpen, whatever it needs. ... That's what championship teams do -- they'll beat you almost any way. I think we have all of those ways."
In this day and age when Cy Young Awards are simply handed out to the pitcher with the most wins, Schilling looks to be the strong candidate as he leads the bigs with 18.
He, like [Pedro Martinez] the other night, [started with a strike] an awful lot," said catcher Jason Varitek of Schilling's ability to get ahead of the hitters. "He'd do a lot of different things. He made a lot of different pitches. He wasn't behind and didn't have to utilize some of [his] other pitches as much, but he got a lot of outs with his fastball, too, and that was big."

I think Jason was trying to give a complement there but he lost me somewhere around doing different things.
