    Hats off to Schilling

Some people asked why we would spend so much money on Curt Schilling when we can't even afford to keep the nucleus of our own team. Well, friends this is why. He is one of the best pitchers in the majors and he is the best pitcher on the Red Sox staff. With out Curt Schilling there would be no AL East pennant chase. With out Schilling there many not even be any playoffs at all. God bless him and the GM Thoe that he road in on.
We're playing great, the Yankees are having trouble," Schilling said after the Red Sox won for the 13th time in 14 games. "But I don't expect them to fall down on the job. They were good enough to put 10 1/2 games between us. We're going to need some help to catch up."

The win put Schilling at 17 wins, tops in the AL, and put him square in the middle of any Cy Young race. Unlike other pitcher from Arizona the Sox courted Schilling is not just a hired gun, he lives for this (if you will).
I was driving to the park today, and it happens to me at times, I'll get chills driving to the park thinking about a game," said Schilling. "The weather was perfect. We've got one of the teams we need to beat to get to the post season coming in. You knew the crowd was going to be electric and I had the ball on the mound."

On a night where there was no power in Yankee stadium everything was perfect in Red Sox nation even if it was just another night to get excited about nothing in August.
