    Review: Boston's Winter of Bliss

Denis Leary, Stephen King, Ben Affleck, Peter Farrley, Bobby Farrley, Seth Meyers, Dan Shaughnessy, John Kerry, Dale Arnold, Thomas M Menino, Julia Ruth Stevens, Jerry Callahan, the usually suspects, basically everyone that you have ever heard pontificating on camera about the Sox showed up in front of ESPN's cameras to contribute to this show.

The good people at ESPN Original Entertainment recently debuted their latest production "The Off Season: Boston's Winter Bliss" after the Red Sox season opener to a rave review from this Red Sox fan. I will go as far to say this is required viewing for any Red Sox fan. It is right on par with the NESN DVD. The hour long show spends about 15 minutes recapping the magic of the ALCS which made the winter of bliss all possible. This segment is driven chiefly by, for better or worse, the narration of Ben Affleck. Love him, hate him, Ben Affleck does add to this show.

We were down 4-3, Mariano Rivera came on, and it was just like it always is. Lose by a run, now we get swept, its humiliating. We have seen that show before, but not this year. Kevin Millar gets walked. Everybody in baseball knows he (Roberts) is going to steal. Then Mariano Rivera gave a hit up the middle, Dave Roberts comes around to score. Twelfth inning David Ortiz gets up there, inside out-ed the ball! Red Sox win. And its just over, we didn't need any last minute heroics, drama, or anything. They just kind of ran them out of the building. New York your season is over, go home New York, HOME, STAY! SIT! DOWN! HOME!" Ben Affleck

The show moves on to how it played among the fans with Pedro not resigning, Theo Epstein being a rock star among the ladies, and Bronson Arroyo trying to be a real rock star, but really shines when a Harvard professor of Psychology tries to explain that the bliss we are all experiencing will be quickly fleeting Then uses the rest of the commentators to quickly debunk this notion.
The Red Sox can play every game this year with 2 players and lose every single game and I am still going to be happy because the World Championship flag is going to be flying over every single game." Denis Leary

The Off Season Boston's Winter of Bliss touches all the bases that you would expect it to touch. Then steps up a notch as it follows platoon player Gape Kapler, wearing a black LA Dodgers hat backwards as he prepares to leave for Japan to make more money then the Sox could offer him.

The Off Season: Boston's Winter of Bliss will re-air Tuesday at 3pm and Monday April 11 at 9pm on ESPN.
