More Trouble for Nomar: Wrist Injury
New city, same bad batting practice luck for Nomar Garciaparra.
The former Sox shortstop, who said he suffered his right Achilles injury when he hit a foul ball off it during spring training, missed three straight games—Saturday and Sunday against the Astros and Monday against the Brewers—with a sprained right wrist he said he suffered during batting practice with the Cubs Friday in Houston.
Garciaparra, of course, missed most of the 2001 season with a torn right wrist. On Monday, he told reporters in Chicago that he hoped to play Tuesday, and he went 0-for-4 and did not return after a rain delay in the seventh inning of the Cubs 13-4 win over the Brewers.
