    Goodbye Daisuke Matsuzaka

Nearly 6 years ago I wrote this post and created this video welcoming Dice-K Daisuke Matsuzaka to the Red Sox.
Everyone knew at the time it was a bit of an expensive wager; now we know just how expensive a wager it was.
Wednesday October 3 2012 was Matsuzaka's last start as a Red Sox and it was your typical Dice-K start.
IP H R ER BB K HR WHIP Season ERA
    D. Matsuzaka (L, 1-7) 2.1 6 5 5 1 2 2 1.71 8.28

Matsuzaka's final line with the Red Sox: 50 wins, 37 losses, 116 games started, 321 walks, and surprizingly an ERA of 4.52

MLB pitchers with 8 innings or more Matsuzaka leads the league with the worst ERA.
Andy Sonnanstine (RAYS) is the only other picture (8 innings or more) with a double digit ERA.

    Terry on Dice-K to DL

This is not going to be a 2 week DL... We need to get him back to being Dice-K... Probably send him down to Florida." Terry Francona on Daisuke Matsuzaka 6-21

Ouch. Translation= So long Dice-K until someone else craps the bed.

    Best Outing Ever

I was more excited for him, you know I wanted him to do well. Because the world would be coming to an end if he had a mediocre start. For him to do so well is great, it is great as a teammate, he answered the hype and now everyones happy."

Mike Lowell on Daisuke Matsuzaka's first Red Sox start and win.
