Theo Departs after not being Shown the Money

In the wake of Brian Cashman being shown more than $5 million over three years from the Yankees Theo Epstein walked off the job Monday after he realized the Boston Red Sox would not be willing to pay him any where near his New York counterpart.

My decision not to return as general manager of the Red Sox is an extremely difficult one... I gave my entire heart and soul to the organization. During the process leading up to today's decision, I came to the conclusion that I can no longer do so... My affection for the Red Sox did not begin four years ago when I started working here, and it does not end today."

    Wild Sox

The Red Sox won the final series of the season against the Yankees, they end the season with the exact same record as the Yankees, and walk away with the wild card once again. Yeah we saw that one coming. Thanks to the last time we faced the Yankees in September and didn't put a run on the board during the Johnson Wakefield 0-1 loss, the Sox lost the season Red Sox Yankees record advantage. At what point should have people started rooting for the Indians to actually win a game? The AL East pennant is the only accolade this team has not achieved, but history has proven that the Wild Card can be the easier route to the World Series. The White Sox in Chicago sounds better than the Angels in Anaheim for now, however that tune will change quickly if Boston's third straight wild card title is this season's crowning moment.
