Can The Sox Break The Streak Today?

The Sox have lost a season high three series in a row (Min, SF, COL), today marks a chance to break that horrible streak. As Jimy Williams once said, "if you will all the series you play, you win the world series, and it was a good year." Easier said then done, but it can't be over looked how important it is to keep winning series, at home or away.
At five games behind the Yankees the Red Sox are in desperate need of a long winning streak to keep this season interesting. In contrast to the past 2 years the Sox have been in first place at this time of year, only to let in slip away in late July and have it remain out of reach for the rest of the season. It would be nice to think that this year it will be the reverse of years past and the Sox will re-obtain first place when it actually matters. However, that is simple wishful thinking if the Sox stay at 5 or more games out.
