Although shortstop Nomar Garciaparra was traded at midseason, he could share the spoils if the Boston Red Sox win the World Series.
Players voted on postseason shares a month ago, and while those figures are undetermined, general manager Theo Epstein suggested they were
"very generous"in deciding percentages. He sidestepped questions about whether the five-time All-Star would receive a championship ring.
"my understanding is that it's an ownership call."No player would say it directly, but there was a sense Garciaparra deserved some hardware, some citing his eight-plus seasons of service to Boston and others believing he helped the club by agreeing to be traded at the July 31 deadline.

us getting to the point we got," said pitcher Tim Wakefield, the
team's longest-tenured player and its former union representative.
"And I think he deserves it."
That would follow the precedent of recognizing players who have aided the cause, but outfielder Ellis Burks had a simpler theory.
"I would think everyone who's been on the roster (would get one)," Burks said. "Even if you've been on the roster for 10 days, you get something, even a share. The grounds crew gets a ring, everybody in the front office gets one, so as a player you better get one."
