Is there a new captain of clutch?
Several years ago Red Sox brass anointed David Ortiz as the greatest clutch hitter in Red Sox history. From that year forward Mr Ortiz quickly became very unclutch. Can you remember the last time big Papi hit a walkoff hit? I can't. Can you remember the last time Carl Crawford hit a game winning hit? Sure can. May 9th, and May 1st come to mind. David Ortiz earned his title with a fairly large set of data and very little can be derived from Crawford's 35 game data set but I will tell you this much at the end of the game I would rather see Crawford at the plate than Ortiz.
