Flash Gordon Holds the Day!
New York Post Online Edition: sports
After Recording a league high 46 saves for the Sox in 1998, Tom (AKA Flash) Gordon was cast off the Sox in 1999. The move was made by Dan Duquette who felt Flash's injured shoulder may have put him "past his prime".
Flash struggled on and off for the next several years finding work with the Cubs, Astros, White Sox, and now he is making a very happy home for himself with the Bronx bombers.
Flash no longer closes games, but he is filling a very important hole for the Yankee bull pen. The hole between starter and their perenial all star closer Mariano Rivera.
